Hey there, DETECTIVES! DETECTIVE WRITER here to tell you all about another unsolved crime in the Philippines, the murder of Flipino priest, Benjamin de Jesus.
Bishop de Jesus was born in the National Capital Region on July 25th, 1940. On December 29th, 1967, he was officially ordained as a priest as a member of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. On February 4th, 1997, with no known motive nor known assailants, Bishop de Jesus was shot to death six times outside the Jolo Cathedral. Multiple individuals were wounded and one woman who was close by was killed as well. Although police suspected the Muslim group, Abu Sayyaf of being responsible for the murders, the crimes still remain unsolved. Bishop de Jesus was the first Filipino priest to be killed in the entire history of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
