Hey there, DETECTIVES! DETECTIVE WRITER here to tell you all about an unsolved case that occurred in 1960s New York City, the death of Midtown Jane Doe.
On February 10th, 2003, Midtown Jane Doe’s remains were found by construction workers as they were preparing to demolish a building in Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan, NY.
TRIGGER WARNING: I will discussing how she was found, DETECTIVES, so if anyone feels uncomfortable, please feel free to skip ahead.
Midtown Jane Doe was found in the fetal position, she was tied with an electrical cord, and it was determined that she was murdered by strangulation.

This ring was found with the remains among a few other items including a green plastic toy soldier.
In 2017, the NYPD reopened up the case to review with updated forensic technology.
In March 2023, a DNA profile was created and it was matched with a family member who had uploaded their DNA to an ancestry database.
Midtown Jane Doe has been formally identified as Patricia Kathleen McGlone, a 16 year old teenager and she was living in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. She was murdered in 1969. She was born in April 20, 1953, to Bernard McGlone and Patricia Gilligan. Detectives also discovered that she had a child and husband, through school records they also learned that she dropped out at 16, and they also obtained a copy of her marriage certificate. It is unclear what happened to her family.

McGlone’s DNA was discovered to have a connection to the mother of a 9/11 victim, confirming she was a cousin.
McGlone’s alleged murderer(s) has yet to be identified or known.
