Murder Mystery Storytime: The Vampire Murder!

Hey there, DETECTIVES! DETECTIVE WRITER here to tell you all about an unsolved murder mystery that remains a puzzle to this day: The Atlas Vampire. Ever wondered if vampires actually exist? Well, maybe they do and are just lurking around for their next meal!

Creepy right? I mean, would anyone actually believe this was the work of a real vampire?

On May 4th, 1932 in Stockholm, Sweden, a young sex worker named Lilly Lindeström was found assassinated in her home. Forensics discovered that prior to being discovered, she had been dead for around 2-3 days lying face down on her bed, she was completely nude, suffered blunt force trauma to the head, and a condom was found inside her anus. That finding made police believe that before she was killed, she had engaged in sexual intercourse.

The reason why it was speculated a “Vampire” or that the killer either drunk her blood or placed it in an unknown container was because when police found her body, the corpse was completely drained of all of her blood. Of course, no one actually knows if someone drank her blood or not, but it has been highly speculated.

Beautiful wasn’t she? Unfortunately, although, a few of her clients were believed to be suspects since she was known as a “Call girl” and would meet them at her apartment, no one was officially charged with the crime and the murder remains unsolved.

Murder Mystery Storytime: The Villisca Axe Murders!

Hey there, DETECTIVES! DETECTIVE WRITER here to tell you all about an unsolved and completely terrifying murder mystery that remains unclear to this day! The Villisca Axe Murders of June 10th, 1912 in Villisca, Iowa, United States.

The house in which the murders took place still stands and is open for visitors every day and even for one-night sleepovers. I personally have never tried it but would love to go but I will admit, I am a bit scared to try it out, especially if I go alone. But anyway, back to the story. If you are curious and willing to visit, the link is provided here.

A family of six, including two houseguests, were found bludgeoned to death by an unknown ax murderer. The victims had extremely severe head wounds due to the ax. Six children and two adults, the parents were brutally murdered. Josiah and Sarah Moore had six children, Herman Montgomery, Mary Katherine, Arthur Boyd, and Paul Vernon and their two guests were Ina Mae and Lena Gertrude Stillinger who were invited to stay the night after spending the day together for an event that was known as the Children’s Day Program. At 7 A.M. the next day, when the neighbors noticed nobody was up performing the morning duties, they immediately sensed something was wrong. When Ross Moore, Josiah Moore stepped foot in the house, he was startled upon discovering Ina Mae and Lena Gertrude Stillinger’s bodies in the guest bedroom. When a police officer arrived at the house, all of the victims were found. Two used cigarettes were discovered in the attic which was speculated that the murderer or murderers waited in hiding until everyone in the house was asleep that night.

It was also discovered that the murderer killed Josiah and Sarah first with Josiah receiving more blows from the ax and purposely using the blade of the ax on him while everyone else received the blunt side. He was badly mutilated that his eyes were missing from his face which hinted that perhaps the attack was personal. The children were next and then returned to hit the parents once more and kicked to the side a shoe that became filled with blood. He or she then moved downstairs to kill Lena and Ina Mae. It was believed that everyone except Lena was awake and may have been sexually assaulted because her arm had a defensive wound, lying crosswise on the bed, and she also had no underwear on and her nightgown was pushed up to her waist.

While there have been several suspects including Reverend George Kelly who was in town the night of the murders and Sam Moyer who was Josiah Moore’s brother-in-law, no evidence was viable to charge them and they, including other men, were acquitted. The case continues to remain unsolved to this day and it has been said that by multiple nighttime residents of the Moore house, they could hear crying and strange sounds coming from all over the house.

Murder Mystery Storytime: The Black Dahlia

Hey there, DETECTIVES! DETECTIVE WRITER here to tell you all about a decade’s long-unsolved murder mystery of a young woman known as The Black Dahlia A.K.A murder victim, Elizabeth Short.

True beauty, isn’t she? Well, unfortunately, a beautiful woman who faced such a gruesome death. But we’ll get to that a while, DETECTIVES. Allow me to introduce or give you a brief recap if you have already heard of her, DETECTIVES!

Elizabeth Short was born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 29th, 1947. Her parents, Cleo and Phoebe Short split soon after the stock market crash and she was raised primarily by her mother. When she was fifteen years old, she had lung surgery since she suffered from asthma and bronchitis. As a teenager, she also got arrested for underage drinking and she soon moved away to live with her family, although, they began to argue a lot, leading her to move out.

She met a decorated Army officer in Florida who soon proposed marriage to her; however, he soon passed away in a plane crash in 1945. It has been speculated that she arrived in Los Angeles with the intention to become an actress but there are no records of her in any acting credits or jobs anywhere.

On January 9th, 1947, Short went missing after allegedly being seen at a cocktail lounge just a few miles away from the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles where she was visiting with her married lover, Robert. On January 15th, Short’s dismembered body would be found in Los Angeles’ Leimert Park vacant lot by a mother walking with her young daughter. The woman initially assumed she was looking at a mannequin, but upon looking closer, she realized it was a mutilated corpse. Now, the strangest thing was that her body was completely drained of any blood, cut at the waist, completely naked and pale, and with her arms raised above her head. Her face was even slashed brutally, with cuts throughout her entire body, and legs spread apart.

Trigger warning, DETECTIVES. Please feel free to skip forward if you don’t wish to view it.

Now, while there have been several admissions and a few suspicious individuals by the police, unfortunately, Short’s killer has never been caught and her murder still has not been brought to justice.

She was called The Black Dahlia because, in life, she apparently loved wearing black clothes and because of a film released with the same name in 1946, and no, she wasn’t in it. It’s been so long and the case is still unsolved, who do you think it could have been? When? Why?

I hope you have enjoyed this storytime as much as I did, DETECTIVES! Please let me know in the comments if you want to have more storytime! Have a great day, night, afternoon, or evening, DETECTIVES! Stay tuned for next week’s post and until then, keep on sleuthing, DETECTIVES!

Murder Mystery Storytime: The Ourang Medan Ship

Hey there, DETECTIVES! DETECTIVE WRITER here to tell you all about a supposed legend/myth of a mysterious ship that had murdered the entire crew under suspicious circumstances: The SS Ourang Medan ship.

Spooky looking huh? Well, just wait until you hear the rest of this tale. It is rumored that during the late 1940s, the ghost ship was sailing to Costa Rica carrying cargo when suddenly, the ship began distress messages to a few ships around but when the ship had received rescuers, they were met with the whole crew and even ship dog dead. Allegedly, they lay on their backs, with no or little physical injuries and faces shaped in such terror.

Caution warning for the next image below, feel free to obscure and scroll forward.

Now, keep in mind that there has never been an official registration for this alleged ship and a few ships that have searched for the wreck have had no success. But regardless, I mean, even hearing of a ghost ship where the entire crew was killed of suspicious circumstances is creepy enough right?

There have been a few theories that the ship may have been part of a smuggling operation, taken over by pirates, or filled with carbon monoxide poisoning, but nothing has ever been proven since the ship has never been found nor has evidence been provided that the SS Ourang Medan has actually existed in history.
